about

With his upcoming album, Steve Netting crafts a soundscape reminiscent of an ancient and imagined ritual. Melding the eerie undertones of hauntology with the enigmatic allure of darkwave, he takes us on a journey to an old Plymouth coven's gathering. As listeners, we are privy to the secrets of a British traditional witchcraft ceremony, enveloped by the mists of the Devonshire countryside.

Born and raised in Plymouth, Devon, England, Steve Netting's music speaks of the land's mysteries, its hidden rituals, and the haunting beauty of the moors. Although he now resides in the ethereal landscapes of Finland, Steve remains deeply connected to his hometown, its folklore, and its magic.

Steve has previously graced the hauntology scene as the artist behind "Town and County" with his album, "A Plan for Plymouth''. The project earned recognition for its evocative melodies and the unique way it interweaves history with auditory experience.

While he subtly hints at a personal connection to British traditional witchcraft, the true essence of Steve’s music lies in his ability to evoke emotions and imagery. The listener is invited to speculate, to wonder, and to journey alongside him into the depths of the occult.

The decision to release this album as Pennycross Coven, rather than Town and County, underscores the unique ambiance of the project. While its darker tones and imagined history distinguish it, the essence of Steve's artistry endures – a poignant fusion of reality, history, and mystical themes.

Though he has left the physical boundaries of Plymouth, Steve's music proves that you can never truly leave behind the enchantment of your homeland. Whether it's the rich history of various regions under "Town and County" or the mystical allure of witchcraft in this latest venture, Steve Netting stands as a testament to the power of place and the magic it can inspire in music.
